TIP: Permanently remove “fix redeye” problem when importing photos in Photoshop Elements…

I’ve discovered a BIG flaw in Photoshop Elements (versions 3 thru 6 – probably in version 7 too). When you’re importing a lot of photos into the organizer, there’s a little checkbox that says … “Automatically Fix Red Eyes”. The first time you use it make sure you UNCHECK that little box! It “probably” will stay unchecked the next time you use it, but I always double-check just to make sure.

My reasoning behind this is that the function really SUCKS! It rarely does it correctly, and some of your photos will end up looking like the people have black eyes. The real bad news is that once it’s done it’s “automatic fix” there NO WAY to undo it. (click here or the title above to read full article)

End-ItAll2 – a MUST-HAVE Freeware Utility!!

Has your computer frozen up? Are you frustrated trying to play games? Well the problem is usually related to all the “background programs” running on your system that you’re probably not even aware of.

I keep telling folks to get a FREE copy of “End-It-All 2″. It’s a handy dandy little utility that shuts down all running programs except the ones absolutely required to keep Windows running, and any others that you elect to exempt or lockdown from the shutdown process. You don’t even have to install it — just click on it and then “kill all”. It takes only a few seconds to run it and you don’t have to go through all the hassles of rebooting into safe mode, etc. I also use it whenever I’m installing any new software and when using burning software to burn a CD/DVD or doing any drive maintenance and defragging.

EndItAll 2 is also an ultra powerful Windows process killer than attempts to rid your system of those files that have either frozen your system or simply refuse to budge. However, unlike the Windows very basic “process manager”, it also indicates what program each process relates to which prevents you from shutting down anything essential. This is the real beauty of this free utility.

However, the program will not close everything – it will stop short of closing anything essential anyway so it’s really idiot proof. The interface is really simple and it certainly looks a lot better than Windows own Process Manager. If you need to suddenly free up some RAM, it’s a much better option and vastly more powerful.

WeatherWatcher Beta 6 is actually WeatherBug!

I just found out that Mike Singer’s newest Weather Watcher, that I’ve been pitching and using for years now, is changing to Weather Bug with their new Beta 6 release! YIKES!! I’m shocked, amazed and totally diasappointed with Mike Singer!

The free version of WeatherBug is completely ad-supported and contains both pop-up and banner ads. It also installs the My Search toolbar (more scumware) in certain instances (which is definitely spyware IMO). In addition WeatherBug was involved with Gator a few years ago and Gator was/still is definitely spyware. In my experience a tiger doesn’t change it’s stripes.
