The BIG Picture
From one of my former PhotoShop Elements Students:
Gord, I am trying to add some pictures to a web page and I’ve been told that they’re much too big and are over 1 mb each. In fact they are about 1.4 mb each! What is the easiest way to reduce the mbs but maintain a decent size of around 600 pixels x 400 pixels each?
My Reply: it’s fairly simple. Just open the photos (1 at a time) in PhotoShop Elements, then first resize them to 600 x 400 pixels (goto Image —> Resize). Then choose “Save for Web” under the drop-down “File” tab. When the 2 side-by-side photos pop up, choose “JPEG” and “High”. Then click ok and save them to a separate folder. I usually create a new folder and call it “Web Uploads” and put it on my desktop for ease of finding it. Then just upload them to the website. Then you’re done! (PS: delete or move the folder from ytour desktop when you’re finished with it)
