Ron Asks:
I need to download the driver for a Microsoft MN-510 for Windows XP. I can’t find it anywhere.
My Reply:
The MN510 driver and network utility are contained in the download below. Once you begin installation you will have a choice of drivers.

You could also check out the Microsoft Knowledge Base items for more information about the adapter:

Hope this helps. Gord

Shirley writes: Hi Gord. I have been trying to edit a photo today. Twice I have spent an hour photoshopping the picture and when I’m just about finished the picture, Microsoft shows “this program is not responding” and shuts down!! It also shuts down on most of the programs including emails, but I can just bring the website back up. But with this picture I must start all over again as Photoshop Elements doesn’t respond and the program is closed. I would like to send the picture back to her as soon as possible edited as the picture is of her husband who is very sick.
I wrote back: Have you tried re-booting the computer (cold)? Shut it right down for a minute then start it up again. Don’t open any other programs and then try to edit in photoshop elements. Often times a cold boot will resolve temporary memory issues. Windows gets confused sometimes – I guess it suffers from old age too. Windows XP is about 60 years old in dog years! Bill writes: Gord, when shutting the computer down at night I am getting the following message more frequently – almost every time now.
- “End Program – iexplore.exe. This program is not responding”
And it invites me to “close the program NOW”.
This isn’t serious or urgent, but extremely irritating. Any suggestions? I do my regular maintenance as you taught me. Have a nice weekend. Thanks, Bill.
I replied: Quick and easy fix for this one Bill. My advice is to download Firefox 3!
Get it here >>> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
It’s safer & faster than Internet Explorer. Best of all you’ll get rid of the Internet Explorer error forever!!! It’s not a perfect solution and we can probably Google the fix for IE, but that will take time and more frustration. This fix is quick and best of all painless. I don’t call IE “Internet Exploder” for nothing!
Hope this helps.

Q: Hi Gord, The last two days I have been getting a Windows message “A problem was detected and Windows shut down to prevent damage Process or thread crucial – system operation unexpectedly exited or been terminated.”
“Kernel_data_inpage_error”
Then it gave tech info with instructions and at the end “Beginning dump of physical memory”. The first time this occurred I had been using Internet Explorer and using Google Earth. I placed this program with a couple of others on the desktop and took a break. It was during the break this error message appeared.
In order to restart Windows I had use the Windows CD. After fiddling with the three options Windows opened. (click here or the title above to read full article)
